Abstract The thesis is focused on pocket books and their place in the French book production. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part, French and world history follow short introduction. The second part gives information about publishers publishing these books, their book series and the attitude of publishers regarding number of books and authors published in 2012. The last chapter of this part presents different cultural events connected with these books. The last part contains economic dates and prognoses of future development
